About

An automobile (from the Greek “auto” – meaning self; and the Latin “mobilis” – meaning moving; — a vehicle that propels itself instead of being propelled by a different vehicle or animal) or motor car (commonly abridged to simply car) comprises a wheeled passenger vehicle that contains its own motor. Most definitions of the term suggest that autos are configured to move chiefly upon roads, to accept seating for one to eight passengers, to commonly run on four wheels, and to be built primarily for the transfer of people instead of trade goods. Nevertheless, the term is far from accurate since there are many other kinds of vehicle that do related tasks.

There were 590 million passenger cars globally (about one automobile for every eleven people) as of 2002.

    Good Afternoon!

Since it is National Teen Driver Safety week, I wanted to provide you with some background on what Allstate and Gillette Evernham Motorsports (GEM) have been doing this year to promote teen safe driving.

As you may know, car crashes are the number one cause of fatality among teenagers in America. More than 5,000 teens die every year and 300,000 more are injured as a result of careless driving. (From “Allstate America’s Teen Driving Hotspots Study” – May 2008).

Therefore, Allstate created the “Teen Safe Driving Pit Stop” and partnered with GEM and their drivers to reach out to parents and teens about being safe on the road. The goal of the interactive, racing-focused program is to facilitate communication between parents and teens about the importance of teen safe driving and provide tools to spark these conversations.

GEM drivers Kasey Kahne, Elliott Sadler and team owner Ray Evernham have all headlined the events providing students and parents driving tips and describing their experiences when driving at 200 mph around a race track.

Since the program corresponds with the NASCAR Sprint Cup race schedule, Texas and Miami will be the last stops to complete the year.

Please let me know if you would like to speak with Pam Hollander from Allstate about the creation of this program or need any additional information.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

    Best,

    Amber
