Avoid Speeding Fines – Understand the Reasons You Speed
Everybody wants to avoid them. However, it’s pretty easy to start speeding and before you know it you end up with a fine. Today with all the cameras out their monitoring the roads in the UK, it is especially important that you are careful about speeding or you’ll end up with quite a few fines, some points on your license, and you could even lose your right to drive at all. One of the best things you can do to avoid speeding fines is actually to understand the reasons that you speed in the first place. There are several common and basic reasons that people end up speeding. Just work out what they are are, and then you can start working towards a resolution to avoid the speeding fine. These are the most common reasons people speed, and how to avoid them in the future.
Reason #1 – The Speed Limit Changes – One of the main reasons that people end up speeding, is because they dont notice that the limit has changed, and after all its a limit – not a mandatory rule. On many of the roads across the UK, you’ll find that the speed does change from time to time. On many roads the speed limit actually changes, and it is, unfortunately, easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention. Before you know it you end up being pulled over and given a ticket for speeding, and you never even realized you were doing something wrong. There are many people that end up paying fines because they didn’t notice a speed change.
The Solution:
If you are not the most observant driver and notice speed changes, there are other things you can do to mitigate this, and avoid speeding fines. Keeping your eyes open for signs around you is a great idea. Instead of paying so much attention to everything else, keep watchful for speed limit signs and also keep an eye on other vehicles around you. When you notice other vehicles slowing down, it may be because the speed has changed.
Reason #2 – You are Not Concentrating on Driving – Another of the common reasons that people end up getting speeding fines is because they were not concentrating on driving. It is definitely easy to jump in the car and drive to where you are going without ever really paying much attention. There are many distractions, such as listening to the radio, thinking about something important, or even talking to someone in the vehicle. Keep focussed on the driving, beecause if you let yourself become distracted you’ll be getting a ticket before you know.
The Resolution:
How can you fix this problem? Remember, concentration is a key aspect when driving, even after you pass your test – if not more so. Try to avoid things that take your mind off what you are doing. Pay attention to your speed. It only takes a moment to check your speed. This way you don’t just go speeding off, and end up with a hefty speeding fine.
Reason #3 – Road Aggression – This is one of the key reasons why people end up speeding today. When you are feeling angry, it’s easy to go faster because you are upset. If you get stressed, you are liable to speed – so be cool, calm and relaxed. When you are feeling more aggressive or you are in an angry state of mind, chances are you are going to go faster and you may just end up with speeding fines for that anger, which definitely won’t make your day go any better.
How to Fix It:
The answer is simple – if you aren’t calm, dont drive. After all, getting a speeding fine is not going to make things better for you. It’s important to avoid getting aggressive while driving as well. Do you really want to end up in a serious car accident, well ths is what you can expect in addition to a speeding ticket when you drive this way.
Reason #4 – Running Late – Running late is one of the big reasons so many people end up speeding around. They end up speeding just to make it a few moments earlier, when in fact in trying to drop the kids off or make it to work, they have endanged the lives of others, and incurred a speeding fine – is it really worth it. Before they know it they are speeding along trying to make it on time, and then comes the bad part – the speeding fines.
How to Fix It:
Its all to sad in hindsight to realise that the reason people get speeding fines was due to something so simple. It’s easy to get in a hurry when you are running late. The better option is to leave on time or make sure you have a few minutes to spare. If you are running behind, call ahead to let someone know. I’m sure you’d rather pay the fine, than end up being in a serious accident, when you are simply trying not to be late.
Reason #5 – The Road Seems Deserted – Last of all, another of the common reasons people speed is because the road they are driving on seems to be deserted. Ignorance isn’t bliss – dont speed simply because it looks safe. Well the speed cameras don’t turn off at night, and you never know when someone is setting a speed trap. Just when you think it’s okay to go a bit faster, you may end up with a speeding fine.
How to Fix It:
Speed limits are set for a reason, and even if you don’t think they apply, they still need to be adhered too. In reality, none of us know what we are going to meet on the road. If you really want to avoid speeding fines, then simply just follow the speed limits.
