RC Cars – Race Hard Without Risk of Injury

Anytime you hear somebody talk about the radio-controlled nitro high power car, it is more than likely that flashes of evenings at the races come to mind, complete with the roar of the engines.

The things that usually come to mind instantly are the smells – the exhaust fumes are so strong its like they’ve invade every cell in your body – and the noise. The crowd screams as the drivers pull away from the starting line and the action begins in a blue haze from the spinning tires.

Well, if you can’t make it to the speedway every weekend, but still love the charge you get from those sights and sounds, then a nitro high power car might be for you. It is a miniature version of what the big guys have, only controlled by radio and it might just fit the bill for some excitement around your house.

These gasoline-powered RC cars are really miniature versions of the high power car models seen on the real race tracks. They run on a mixture of fuel that includes nitromethane, which is called nitro as well. If it seems that you have heard of that fuel before, perhaps in conjunction with the real dragsters, then you are right. It is the very same fuel that they burn.

If you’re wondering what the difference is between nitro high power car models and the RC electric versions and which one you should get then you’re not alone.

One of the main advantages of the nitro cars is that they are able to reach and maintain a higher speed for a longer period of time and you can quickly and easily refill a nitro fueled car and get it back on the road immediately. With RC electric cars, you have to recharge the battery before it can run again, or you have to invest in costly additional battery packs.

Nitro cars are fast. Must faster than electric cars and they can maintain their speed for longer. They also only need to be refuelled and they are back on the road. RC electric cars are powered by batteries so unless you are prepared to buy additional battery packs you won’t be able to race all day.

However, because the RC high power car runs on nitro fuel to run its internal combustion engine, you’re going to have a lot more maintainence issues than you will with an RC electric car. They also cost more upfront, you’ve got ongoing costs for fuel and more cleaning up to do because of the exhaust residue. You should also take into account the noise factor when considering a nitro high power car. Because they are very noisy and because of the exhaust, they should never be used indoors.
