Although many people feel that motorcycles are the way to deal with rising gas prices and that may very well be, keep in mind that motor scooters in any way, shape or form are great for saving money and conserving gas. Many also feel it can be safer than a motorcycle as it offers a little more protection for the driver, especially around the legs. Some models even offer more storage space than a motorcycle.

Motor scooters dealers will tell you that a scooter is a two-wheeled motorized vehicle that is different from both a moped and a motorbike. A moped is more like a bike with motorized pedals and it does not carry the same weight, modern advancements or structure. Of course on the other hand, powered scooters or motorbikes are distinguishable by the tank, which is between the handlebars and the rider, while the engine is located beneath the rider and closer to the front.

Of course, you will want to do some research before you go out and purchase one of the motor scooters in town, and there are some questions that you will need to ask yourself first. For instance, is power or speed important to you or what type of roads are you going to be traveling across? Will you be taking a passenger with you at any time, or need any extra space? And will you be traveling for business, pleasure or both?

Naturally, there are many different styles and models available, and every scooter is good in its own way, as the each have a unique set of features. You will have choices between gas motor scooters and electric scooters. If you are going to be using it more for work, then you want to be sure to get one that is fairly reliable and check it out thoroughly. Often, word of mouth is the best source of information on a product so start asking questions of everyone. You may also want to check out different review sites on the internet, as there are always some good ones that will help you make a decision as to what is best for you.

Before heading out on your new scooter, be sure that you know all of the necessary safety regulations and laws concerning scooters, and understand how to drive one of the new motor scooters in rainy or any other inclement weather conditions, as you need to be safety conscious. Some of the most important safety precautions include turning slowly and being sure to leave plenty of stopping distance. It is a good idea to be familiar will all of the regulations and to be sure that you are aware of every one of the scooters parts and how they are used.
