Are you interested in ways to get very good and affordable auto insurance rates in the state of Alabama? Here are some tips that would guide you into getting superior auto coverage at low rates..

To start with, it would be very helpful if you knew what Alabama State laws say is minimum auto policy cover. Essentially, the code 25/50/25 is often used to represent the auto insurance minimum for Alabama. Do you know what that means? Here it is…

Where it happens that you’re at fault in any auto accident, your insurer would be liable to pay up to $25,000 per person that sustains bodily injury in that accident. Furthermore, the insurer is not expected to pay beyond $50,000 for all persons injured in that one accident. In the case of property damage; they are liable to pay only up to $25,000 to the injured party.

Alabama laws stipulate that anyone should have this basic cover if they must drive in the state.

Now, you may really want to know if this minimum is enough in any given circumstance. It all depends on how well you want to protect yourself from liability issues or other forms of loss. You should ask yourself if you barely want to abide by auto insurance laws or if you’d want something that gives you adequate coverage. If you are not comfortable then you might be okay off with this minimum cover. If you are better off, wealth-wise, you should consider some extra protection in case you are liable in any given accident. You don’t want lawyers coming after your assets.

But here are two basic things you should be mindful of: You would be expected to pay up for all bodily injury and damage to property in all accidents where you’re at fault. Your insurer should take care of this. Going for an umbrella policy would better insulate you in the case of a liability suit. It’s really cheap even though the protection it gives you is quite extensive as far as liability issues are concerned. But then, you can always consult your auto insurance agent if you’d want to go for an umbrella policy.

The following would help you save much on…

1. Be sure that all your vehicles are insured by the same insurer. This would get you a multi-vehicle discount.

2. Always make certain that you are never in the red as far as your credit rating is concerned.

3. If you happen to be a student, then you should maintain very good grades. This will help you get cheaper rates.

4. Go for lessons in defensive driving and be certain that your insurer gets to know about it

5. Expensive cars would usually attract very High rates. Ask for a car that is insurance-friendly.

6. You must devise ways of cutting down on your mileage and, as an alternative, you may often use public transport.

7. It is always advisable that you shop around well before going for any particular rate quote. You will have to compare many quotes before finally choosing the best for you. With diligent reviews, you’ll save much on premium dollars.
