You may have realized if you’ve visited a quotes site for car insurance that they do ask for your zip code. This is due to the fact that your residence influences what you are billed as auto insurance premium. Is it really possible that I’m losing a lot of dollars just due to where I live?

Where you choose to make your own will affect what you pay. If you do the right things, you could save much cash in the process (What I’m about to say about the impact of your residence has nothing to do with the fact that some states have higher car insurance premium than others.

You are aware of the fact that insurers ask for your home address and probably your place of work depending on your profile. They do so for obvious reasons.

This little detail about you will help them know if your place of residence is in a high risk area or not.

Do you reside in a red light nieghborhood? If you do, then your rate will be much more than someone who lives in neighborhood that is less prone to crimes.

This is where many folks start losing good money…

There has to be a protocol or something that groups neighborhoods into high risk, medium risk, low risk and, perhaps, no risk areas.

If unluckily fall into a zone in their map that shows that you reside in a high risk area, then you will pay more. However, you may be amazed to discover that a property less than 50 meters from were you reside belongs to a medium risk area. There have to be boundaries and they could benefit you or otherwise.

This information is certainly most helpful if you are about to move into a different home or about to pay for a house. Spend time to obtain a free auto insurance quote with the address of this home or apartment you intend to get (Remember, they’re free and don’t mean you must buy insurance from them). This will help you decide if it will cost you more or less if you move in there.

Don’t start kicking yourself if you fall into a high risk area. Everyone can realize remarkable savings on their auto insurance rates:

Visit a minimum of 3 sites that give free non-obligatory auto insurance quotes. I recommend 5 so you do not miss great quotes from insurers not covered by one or two of the other sites. Compare the quotes returned and you will be surprised at the amount you’ll save — A few hundred dollars or probably even a thousand
