Low-cost cars
We have a report on low-cost cars which is now available for download as part of the annual just-auto membership subscription. The Coolbear (Mark Bursa) wrote it and the study takes a look at different types of solution to the vexed question of making very cheap cars for people who are challenged on the disposable income front.
It strikes me that one interesting thing about the work going into these - in engineering for low-cost, for example - is what is being learned for wider applications. How much has developing the Dacia Logan helped Renault outside of the Logan/low-cost sphere? It's perhaps the other end of the spectrum from the top-end stuff that filters down. This 'filters up' and takes cost out.
