Small electrics

posted in Daves Blog |
Some interesting remarks were recently made by GM's Larry Burns about how the Chevrolet Volt is shaping up - carried in an interview on just-auto today. Clearly, the technology is no walk in the park and astute consumers may well conclude that it is best to wait for improved versions of the technology further down the line rather than be an early adopter. Leasing the batteries to customers might help though. And BMW is apparently mulling an electric car/new green brand also. More I think about it, the more DaimlerChrysler's Smart brand seems to have been maybe ten years ahead of its time in some ways. It just needs a plug-in electric variant now. Would BMW and Daimler like to extend their cooperation further in this area I wonder?
